So today I picked up the quirky MOBA-platformer Awesomenauts from Steam. It's supposed to have an '80s Saturday Morning Cartoon vibe to it, but I guess I don't really get that feel from the game other than the inspirations for some of the character archetypes (space cowboy, sentient brain, giant robot, etc). Something I've come to notice about works of fiction, especially those in the continuous-story medias (television and comic books), is the love of crafting theories about what is happening. It's not surprising; we want to make sense of what is revealed and reveal for ourselves what isn't. My earliest game system was a Nintendo Entertainment System my mom bought for me at a garage sale, and at the time they were out of date (I know because the first non-garage sale game I bought for it was Tiny Toons on the Super Nintendo).
